Geography the Basics (5): Geography Analysis Approach

Geography analysis approach
means a basic concept in analyzing a problem related to geography material object. As we explain before (see geography object chapter), geography at least has three approaches: spatial approach, ecological approach or regional complex approach.

Spatial Approach
Spatial approach is a unique geography approach which analyzes natural phenomena variation on earth surface. Spatial approach refers to positional accentuation, accessibility measurement and interaction. Spatial approach refers to geography principles: spread, interrelation, and description which can be observed through concept, theory and technical analysis such as geography network and connectivity, central place theory, and interaction.

Ecological Approach
Ecological approach based on interaction and interdependency which happen in the environment (ecology system). Geography environment has a same meaning with common meaning of environment. Its main theme is human life interrelation with their physical environment which forms spatial system named ecosystem.

Regional Complex Approach
Regional complex approach is a combination approach between spatial approach and ecological approach which analyzing physical and social characteristic happen on different earth surface among the regions. That’s why this approach accentuates on region differentiation.

Case example:
House development is absolute need following the people increase. In the other hand, we face land limitation. Solving this problem, nowadays we don’t build horizontal residence, but vertically we build apartment models, etc. Give us your opinion!
